Context
Every day, the Paris fire brigade (Brigade des Sapeurs Pompiers de Paris – BSPP) faces frequent & chronic emergencies where early detection is essential to save lives.
When fighting fire, rescuing drowning people or searching for victims under the rubble, in the water, or lost in natural environments, etc., firefighters need to have a clear vision of their surroundings to respond appropriately to their job’s requirements, regardless of light & weather conditions.
In addition to thermal cameras, the brigade needs powerful & comprehensive devices to adapt to the many & various situations they daily met.
During 3 months, the BSPP tested the FusionSight®, the night & day vision enhancer developed by Bertin Instruments, in order to assess its efficiency & adaptability to search & rescue missions.
Tests were made in multiple places in the Paris region, such as Saint-Denis fortress, Clichy or in the Seine from July to October 2019. Consequently, the BSPP was to assess the FusionSight® in different environments, thus evaluating different needs.
