Exensor & the Belgium Ministry of Defense announce the signature of a framework agreement for the supply of Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) Bertin Technologies 27240

On December 24, 2019, Exensor – a subsidiary of Bertin Technologies (CNIM Group) – was selected by the Belgian Ministry of Defense for the supply & maintenance of rapidly deployable Intrusion Detection Systems for mobile surveillance in permanent or temporary locations. The first batch of systems will be delivered in Spring 2020.

Following a restricted invitation to tender, Exensor secured a framework agreement for the supply & the maintenance of Intrusion Detection Systems for their entire life span. The IDS will rest on Flexnet’s Unattended Ground Sensors (UGS) platform – a rapidly deployable & portable surveillance & force protection solution based on wireless & battery-operated sensor technologies.

The contract value exceeds several millions, with initial deliveries scheduled for Spring 2020.

Composed of a portfolio of intelligent Unattended Ground Sensors & Cameras, Flexnet registers movement and threat activity through the combination of passive seismic-acoustic & infrared sensors as well as day/night motion cameras to detect, classify & identify any potential threats on the ground.

The IDS will also integrate a mast mounted Pan Tilt Zoom (PTZ) camera that, together with the Flexnet sensor platform, will allow an early warning & identification of any suspicious activities inside a secured area.

The IDS’s flexible & scalable design will strengthen Belgium Armed Force’s capability by increasing its operational security needs on permanent or temporary locations.

The IDS will operate under a rapidly deployable Command & Control (C2) Station based upon Exensor’s UMRAWin software, aided by a handheld PDA (Personal Digital Assistant) device to be used by the locally deployed Commander. The system also provides interfaces allowing easy integration with existing Battle Management Systems (BMS).

Following the contract signature, Marcus Rosenqvist – Exensor’s Vice-President Sales & Marketing – said: “We are proud to kick-off 2020 with our first contract signed with the Belgian Armed Forces. We are honoured to be the selected provider of Intrusion Detection Systems for the improvement of safety & situational awareness on Belgian temporarily deployed locations. This new contract further reinforces Exensor’s position as a leading player in the design & manufacture of mobile, scalable sensor platforms for the protection of Armed Forces worldwide.
