Surface sampling has long been a cornerstone of environmental monitoring, but it has limits. Pathogens, genetic material, and microbial contaminants circulate in the air and routinely escape swab-based protocols entirely. In environments where airborne transmission is a key variable, a monitoring strategy that stops at surfaces leaves a critical gap.

The Coriolis® Compact was developed to close it. Lightweight, battery-operated, and field-deployable, it captures bioaerosols directly in the environment and delivers samples fully compatible with PCR, culture, and sequencing workflows, with no liquid media required on-site.

Four independent studies put it to the test across four radically different environments: SARS-CoV-2 detection in indoor settings, H5N8 avian influenza monitoring on poultry farms, forensic DNA evidence collection in Sexual Assault Referral Centres, and microbial air surveillance aboard the International Space Station. The results demonstrate consistent robustness and versatility in demanding real-world conditions.
