With Precellys Emulsion kit very little expensive material is lost during preparation in comparison to other methods. The receptacle and Braun’s Injekt-F 1ml syringe have small dead-volumes. Prepare 20% extra emulsion to obtain a final volume of 2 ml up to 4 ml.  Prepare 15% extra emulsion to obtain a final volume of 4ml up to 7ml emulsion.  For example, to generate 2 x 1ml syringes of emulsion, prepare a starting volume of 2.4 ml.  To generate 7 x 1ml syringes of emulsion, prepare a starting volume of 8.05 ml.  It is important to note that, if syringes other than Braun’s Injekt-F 1ml syringe are used, the more emulsion needs to be prepared and must be determined for each type of syringe.
