Radiation monitoring on air quality around cities

Context

Following the Chernobyl disaster in 1986, French authorities decided to equip air quality monitoring networks near nuclear power plants with a reliable and independent radioactive measurement system, whose objective is to provide people with high-quality information on environmental radioactivity.
In 2015, the question of replacing the air monitoring beacons arose. The Hauts-de-France Region and the Urban Community of Dunkirk wanted Atmo Hauts-de-France to take on this case. Bertin Instruments was chosen to accompany the association in the implementation of this new equipment.
Since May 2016, 3 SpectroTRACER Air/Soil probes for gamma radiation monitoring were brought into operation in the Hauts-de-France region, as a complement to fixed radioactivity measuring stations in Gravelines, Malo-les-Bains and Marcq-en-Barœul.
