IMS a Solid Chemical Detection Technology
Bertin Environics uses a proven and tested orthogonal sensor for chemical detection on its solutions against chemical threats and hazards that can emerge from intentional or accidental releases of chemical warfare agents (CWA) or toxic industrial chemicals (TIC). This orthogonal method consists of: miniaturized IMS sensor and semiconductor/MOS sensors. Data from these sensors is rapidly integrated which leads to real-time reporting of hazard information. The ion mobility cell, patented by Bertin Environics, is a modified aspiration type IMS. The IMS spectral fingerprints are measured with multiple electric fields and selectivity is based on the mass, cross-sectional area and charge of the ion i.e. ion mobility. Airflow through the cell is continuous.
Research and development programs are run on a continuous basis ensuring the technology’s state-of-the-art condition and field suitability.
Handheld/Portable CBRN Solutions
Bertin Environics’ roots are deep in the field of chemical detection and its most well-known product is ChemProX, an early-warning handheld chemical detector for CWA and TIC detection and classification. ChemProX is suitable for first responders and military users as it features a military grade rugged design and it is tested against MIL-STD-810G and MIL-STD-461F in applicable parts. Its unique market features comprise a in-built training mode, trend line display and a secured in-built communication capability to automatically share information with the team.
Bertin Environics also provides ENVI Assay System biodefence tests for provisional identification of biological warfare agents such as Ricin Toxin, SEB, Botulinum Toxin, Anthrax, Pox, Tularemia, and Plague.
As for the radiological side, Bertin Environics supplies SaphyRAD MS, a handheld multiprobe survey meter for radiation contamination detection and exposure monitoring. Its comprehensive range of probes allows for the detection of gamma, alpha, beta, neutron and X radiation, as well as gamma identification.
