Gases that do not present an absorption in the IR spectrum between 8 and 14 µm are not detectable by the camera. E.g. chlorine, hydrochloric acid, carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide and hydrogen. Moreover, di-atomic molecules are not detectable due to their symmetries.
