Portable optronics: a decisive tactical and operational advantage

The CamSight infrared thermal camera is a high-performance vision module, providing day and night capability for reconnaissance, surveillance, and identification missions. It integrates seamlessly into various portable optronic systems.

In today’s operational contexts, portable optronics provide a decisive tactical advantage by equipping infantry soldiers with day and night vision capabilities. Thermal modules, integrated into compact-format portable optronic devices, are essential tools that enhance environmental awareness and help anticipate threats.

These devices include a range of night observation and targeting systems, such as thermal night vision binoculars, night vision goggles, sights, infrared vision helmets, pocket scopes, monoculars, and binoculars. Essential for reconnaissance, surveillance, and identification, they provide continuous vision, day and night, to enhance the operational conditions of soldiers in the field.

Armed forces and specialized units require solutions that are both high-performance and robust, capable of operating in extreme conditions. The main technical challenges involve reducing Size, Weight, and Power consumption (SWaP) while maintaining high performance and operational durability in compliance with military standards.

Specifically designed to meet these requirements, the CamSight range (CamSight, OEM thermal camera for infrared vision – Bertin Technologies) offers uncooled LWIR thermal infrared camera modules that are highly reliable, easy to integrate, and pre-qualified to military standards.

These solutions combine high-resolution infrared sensors (ranging from VGA to SXGA) with patented shutterless technology (patent pending). They ensure accurate and continuous imaging, regardless of weather conditions. Their SWaP-optimized design combines compactness, low weight, and low power consumption.

The versatility of interfaces (HD-SDI, SD-SDI, PAL, MIPI-CSI2, GigE Vision, Parallel Bus, USB / USB-C, and Ethernet H.264/H.265/MPEG) allows for flexible integration tailored to customer needs and supports a wide range of fields of view (from 8° to 110°). They are suited to various DRI requirements (Detection, Recognition, and Identification).

Our SWaP-focused design approach is perfectly aligned with the integration needs of thermal modules in portable optronic systems.
